To find a venue call local public rec areas... i.e Try calling schools, libraries, YMCAs and rec centers. These public places at times will donate space. Also try thinking about the size and possible attendance you don't want book a large venue then have no one show 

When constructing the layout of youre event you want to make sure theirs plenty of space around each station. Also you dont want to over cramp with activities pick 3 or 4 that way you have a lot of space to work with.
